JaRanda "Randi" Doveton
Oxford Who’s Who has inducted Ms. JaRanda (Randi) Doveton into the highest Professional Distinction “Top Tier of Excellence Lifetime Achievement Recognition due to her years of experience and education in the aspects of planning, and zoning, community and economic development, land development, public administration and now health and skin care. Ms. Randi Doveton is one of few special honorees distinguished based on her professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, determination and the credentials she has provided. Randi Doveton always gives 110 % while being passionate about her community and is determined, dependable, and fiercely loyal towards helping people with issues related to land use as well as helping them feel better about themselves through skin care.
When Randi entered the work force in 1990, she entered it as a board drafter but transitioned to being a CADD technician. From 1990 to 1998, she worked for various engineering and surveying companies in Middle Georgia, both as an employee and as a subcontractor. She left the private sector in 1998 after accepting a position as the Zoning Administrator/Building Official for the Taylor County Board of Commissioners in Butler, Georgia. With the assistance of a consultant, Randi wrote the first Zoning Ordinance and created the initial zoning maps for the county. During this same period, with assistance from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the University of Georgia's College of Environmental Design, she wrote the Historic Preservation Ordinance that created a joint Historic Preservation Commission for Unincorporated Taylor County and the cities of Butler and Reynolds. Working as the senior development review officer for Macon Bibb County Planning and Zoning Commission from 2003 through September 2014, before receiving a promotion to zoning director, Randi oversaw the daily operations of the zoning portion of the Commission. She supervised other development review officers, zoning inspectors, and support staff. She also conducted performance evaluations, revisited job descriptions, approved leave requests, updated the records retention schedule, checked daily deposits and activity reports, issued zoning permits, answered questions regarding zoning and the application process for prospective applicants, as well as many other duties. In her current role as the Zoning Director, Randi still performs many of the same duties that she did as a senior development review officer, but she also prepares reports for the executive director and finance director, makes recommendations regarding fees based on analysis of activity and increased costs associated with processing applications and permits, interviews and evaluates applicants for new hires, make recommendations for organizational policy revisions and organizational restructuring. Graduating from Middle Georgia Technical Institute with a degree in civil drafting in 1985, Randi later went on to pursue her BS in Business/Public Administration at the University of Phoenix in 2012 and is currently working on her Master's in Urban and Regional Planning/GIS. She holds a number of certifications, including a SBCCI (now ICC) certified Zoning and Property Standards Inspector, SBCCI (now ICC) certified International Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector, and ICC certified Zoning Inspector and Housing Inspector. Randi has also passed the ICC Legal and Management exam section of the Certified Building Official exam. She has also received training in other areas outside her formal education, including, Legal Aspects of Code Enforcement, Code Enforcement Department Management, and most recently supervisor boot camp for employment law and drug free workplace. In-addition to her position as the zoning director, Randi is licensed as an Assistant Laser Practitioner by the Georgia Composite Medical Board and works in conjunction with Pure Skin + Body. Pure Skin + Body is owned by Randi's friend Anne Bragg, who has been in the skincare industry for more than 20 years. As a laser practitioner, she can use the proper laser to remove unwanted tattoos, remove acne scars, birthmarks, spider veins, reduce pore size, remove age and sun spots, toe nail fungus, and improve overall skin tone and texture. Randi enjoys helping others feel good about themselves and improve their self-confidence through their outward appearance..
