Mary Madden, PhD
Oxford Who’s Who has inducted Dr. Mary Madden into the highest Professional Distinction “Top Tier of Excellence Lifetime Achievement Recognition” due to her areas of expertise in qualitative research, survey research, and program evaluation. Her specific interest is in supporting the healthy development and wellness of youth and young adults. She has fifteen years of experience as a research professor evaluating programs focused on youth development, education, health, and prevention. In addition she also has experience working with clients in local and state government, as well as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration through cooperative grants. Dr. Mary Madden is one of few special honorees distinguished based on her professional accomplishments, academic achievements, years of service, and the credentials she has provided. Dr. Mary Madden displays her expertise as a program manager in the area of family planning education and training enhanced ability to understand program evaluation needs as well as translate research and evaluation to practice and programs.
Dr. Madden is a social science research with 15 years of experience as a researcher and evaluator and 13 years of experience in non-profit and education settings. She recently retired after 13 years as professor at the University of Maine. While there she directed the National Study on Student Hazing and co-directed the National Collaborative for Hazing Research and Prevention. She evaluated numerous health-related programs including; suicide prevention, bullying, peer meditation, and strength-based programs for girls. She has served as the evaluator of a National Science Foundation grant to recruit, retain, and advance women faculty in Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics disciplines. She later went on to direct the program. Prior to returning to graduate school to study for her doctorate, she was a trainer, educator, and program director in the fields of family life education, teen pregnancy prevention, and HIV prevention. Dr. Madden and Associates provides professional research and evaluation services. Their work focuses on the development, health, well-being and education of children, adolescents, young adults, families and women. Their clients include social service and education organizations, local and state government agencies, businesses, k-12 schools, colleges and universities. Their goal is to provide our clients with critical insights to develop, revise, and enhance programs, services and policies. They work in partnership with our clients to ensure that our services reflect the dynamic and complex environment in which they operate. Dr. Madden is in the process of relocating back to Maine to work for United Way of Maine as Director of Evaluation. We look forward to much more continued success from Dr. Madden in her journey and contributions to “the world pronounced” United Way.
